  • Gislaved’s entire summer tire range updated with a focus on improved handling

Hanover/Gran Canaria, December 2011. The tire brand Gislaved presented two new summer tires at an international dealer event in Gran Canaria in November. Almost 100 experts from the specialist trade had the opportunity to test the new Urban*Speed, which has been developed for compact and mid-range cars, and the Ultra*Speed, a specialized tire for sedans and sports cars. While the compact class tire was tested in a tour around the island, Gislaved presented the sports tire on the Circuito Maspalomas race track. These two new tires will go on sale in spring, seamlessly replacing their predecessors. The model range will be rounded off with the new Com*Speed van tire, which will also be available in spring. Gislaved persistently aims on raising the level of handling for all new tires even further.

Urban*Speed – a new safe and comfortable tire for compact series cars

The new Urban*Speed from Gislaved is to be launched with even more precise handling, greater mileage and increased comfort compared with its predecessor. To achieve this, the tire developers at Gislaved have designed a new profile that provides greater stability by means of interconnected blocks. To ensure greater mileage, the tread depth has been increased by an average of four percent, and the pleasant, low tire/road noise has been reduced further thanks to blocks of differing lengths that have been offset against each other. The new tire is to be launched with 27 dimensions as of spring. It is suitable for a number of small, compact and mid-range vehicles. Tires for rims ranging between 13 and 15 inches in diameter will be available, and the tires have been approved for speeds of between 190 and 210 km/h, depending on their size.

Ultra*Speed – a sporty tire with direct handling and a long service life

Gislaved’s new Ultra*Speed is aimed at sedans, MPVs and sports cars. The tire has been given a new profile with interconnecting blocks, thereby achieving greater rigidity. This primarily allows for accurate handling and improves cornering stability considerably. To raise the mileage further, the profile has also been made more rigid around the circumference, thereby distributing the pressure more evenly in the contact area. Blocks of varying lengths that have been offset against each other help to minimize noise peaks and increase driving comfort. The Ultra*Speed will also go on sale in spring. 42 dimensions will be available, of which six are specifically designed for MPVs and SUVs. These tires are suitable for rims between 15 and 19 inches, and speeds of up to 300 km/h have been approved subject to the tire size.

Com*Speed – a van tire with greater mileage and increased comfort

With the new Com*Speed, the developers at Gislaved have used a double block structure and interconnecting profile elements. This design provides greater rigidity in the profile belts and therefore improves handling, even in fully-loaded, heavy vans. The flat tire contour with its extremely even ground contact area ensures a high mileage – and therefore good cost-effectiveness. The level of noise produced by the new van tire from Gislaved has been reduced even further so that motorists can drive in peace over long distances as well. The new Com Speed will also be made available as part of the summer tire business. 13 sizes will be produced for rims ranging between 14 and 16 inches, with bearing loads of up to 1,215 kg per tire.
